…the last day of november

I made it. I blogged every single day of November.

Hold on…I need to pat myself on the back…and maybe eat a cookie.

*crunch crunch…pat pat*

Okay, that’s done. 🙂

But seriously, it was a good challenge for me, and I even learned a couple things about myself.

1. I think I fell out of the habit of blogging regularly because I thought it needed to be spectacular…every single day. I needed to learn that it is okay to just write something…anything…instead of stressing so much about it. I started to get more efficient as the month went on, and worry less about it being “perfect”.

2. This month reminded me that one of the things I enjoy about blogging is reflecting on my experiences, and if I don’t do it when it happens…I just won’t do it. There are huge gaps in my blogging, and I always told myself that I could “go back” and blog about it. That’s silly. I’m really glad that this month forced me to write about life…as it happened.

3. I have also been thinking this month about the purpose of my blog. If I look back over the posts I have written in the last four years, I find myself coming back to words like “perspective”, “identity”, and “reflection”. Yes, I write about a lot of random topics, but the big picture seems to be my journey of finding significance in my identity as a Christian, wife, and mom. Not sure what that means going forward, but it has been food for thought this month.

4. You can do anything if you put your mind to it. Sounds cliche, and for me, it usually needs to include some outside motivation, but it is so true. If I really made up my mind, I could get up early and exercise every morning…or sweep my floor every day…or stop eating so many cookies while I write…it just takes determination. Good thing for me to keep in mind when I think “there’s no way I could do THAT!”

So…three cheers for National Blogging Month!
