Blogging…or canned peas….

I am bummed that I haven’t had a chance to blog for the last couple of weeks. There is plenty to write about, that’s for sure. But it is a common problem…I get busy…miss a few days of blogging or journaling events on the kids calendars…and the next thing I know, it has been a month, and I feel like I have to go back and catch up instead of just moving forward.

Anyways, I have a whole list of blog entries to write…about my new iPad, working at Hilger Hammond, my latest Bible reading adventures, and weaning Fiona, just to name a few. There is no way I could just skip them!

But then, leave it to Madi to put it all in perspective. Just as I finished typing that last paragraph, she asked me, “Why doesn’t everyone in the whole world have food?” So I stopped typing and we talked about how some people don’t have very much money, and how there are some places where it’s difficult to get food. When I explained what a food bank was, she wanted to know how she could help. We decided then and there that after I’m done with my semester, we would have a food drive on our street. She squealed…of course…and ran off to design the flyers, complete with “strings so we can tie them to the doors”.

Suddenly, my little ramblings felt insignificant at best in comparison to the larger struggles in our community and the world. Do they serve a purpose? I hope so, and I pray that I am able to impact others through what I share. Will I still write them? Sure…if I can find the time…but not at the expense of squelching a five year old’s dream of hauling a wagon down the street to collect food.

Blogging…or canned peas…not even a question…
