The people in your neighborhood

A few nights ago, Ben and I were talking about the new morning show on our favorite local channel, WOOD TV-8. It is called Eight West, and the hosts are Terri DeBoer, who is also a meteorologist at the station, and Rachael Ruiz, an anchor/reporter who incidentially has an 8 month old and was suspected to live in a condo in the same neighborhood as Ben’s law office.

The show is a typical morning show with a local flair…highlighting local events and tracking down special interest stories. You know, things like touring a mansion in Spring Lake that costs 7 million dollars and learning how to make peach pizza.

Anyways, I wanted to record an episode to check it out, but I forgot, and was kind of bummed about it. Then, the next morning, Ben calls me from work and says, “Hey, there’s going to be a new Eight West episode on today; you should record it!” “How do you know that?”, I reply, a little confused about such an out of the blue statement.

Come to find out that he walked into the coffee shop by his office at the same time as Rachael Ruiz. He proceeded to tell her that his wife was bummed she missed the show, to which she cheerily replied that I should watch it that morning!

So..I recorded the show, and watched part of it during rest time. They showed Rachael’s daughter saying, “Mama” and Terri’s flowerbeds….very girly and fun. I liked it…even though it is right at our lunchtime.

But hey, it goes to show that you never know who you will run into at your local haunts…just the people in your neighborhood…

  1. You posted from your iphone???? I am SOOOOOOOOOOO impressed. Fox 17 morning news is my favorite morning news, but I am going to be checking out eight west because, hey, I love things like that! 🙂 I have caught part of two shows…one in a dr’s office and one that I suddenly went “OH! I was going to watch that!” But all that aside, a post from your phone, I love that! Nice meeting you at the conference, hope all is well with your kiddos!
