Quite by Accident?

Madi used this phrase the other day when she was describing a story that she had heard from me about how she couldn’t eat rice cereal when she was little. What it sounded like was “…when I was little, I had rice cereal, and quite by accident, I threw it all up!”

It is easy to forget that nothing happens “quite by accident”. It is amazing that God has everything under control and knows exactly what is going to happen. For example, I was supposed to go to The Melting Pot last night with my MOPS group, but I realized yesterday that there just weren’t enough people to go. So, I canceled it, and thought…hmm…free night! Now, I’ll be honest and say that I did think about scheduling my spa treatment that Ben gave me for Valentines Day, but then I wondered…maybe I could get a babysitter so Ben and I could go out on a date!

One of our babysitters WAS available, and we were able to go out – ended up playing nine holes of golf and getting dinner. It was so nice – it is easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind and not spend the time to just talk. Plus, I actually hit a few good golf shots – got a 4 on my own ball on a par 3, which was pretty exciting.

So, thank you God, for orchestrating yesterday’s events to be just what we needed. And…help me to be equally thankful when I have a day where nothing seems to be going right, and know that it also is what I need at that moment, whether to challenge me to make the right choices or to teach me something or to make the good times stand out in comparison.
