Easter 2008…Madi was three, Parker was one, and Fiona was only a twinkle in my eye. Somehow I tracked down the idea to make Bunny Baskets out of milk jugs…maybe it was my mom’s idea? They turned out pretty cute, but wow, Madi looks so little!
So this year, I decided to revisit this craft adventure on our day off from school. Even though the kids didn’t remember making them before, I certainly did, and it was fun to see how they approached it this time around. Madi was much more meticulous with her bunny ears than when she was three…
Fiona decided to spend her time putting marker caps on her fingers…
But in the end, we had three Bunny Baskets with lots of personality…
Then, on a whim, I scrounged up a few easter eggs, filled them with jelly beans and fruit snacks, and hid them upstairs for the kids to find and plop in their baskets…it was a big hit…
…especially when I let them munch on the treats inside right away!
The kids took over the camera for a few pictures…I love how Fiona thinks this is a good “picture-taking face”…
Then it was off to the bathroom to brush their teeth…(I just love this picture)
I could say that we will wait a few more years to come back to this craft again, but I’m sure now that Madi will remember and make sure we do it every year. A fun (and easy) little tradition for my kiddos…not such a bad thing, eh?
