I am not a label reader….never have been. I know it is probably an important thing to do; you never know what “hidden toxins” are in your purchases. But, I don’t. I am usually in too much of a hurry. So, when I realized that my husband was low on shampoo, I dashed into the grocery store to pick up a bottle. I didn’t look to see what scent it was, other than to make sure it wasn’t too “girly”.
He proceeded to use it…and contract a pretty bad case of the hives. Yikes. Will I start reading labels? I definitely will when I’m buying shampoo. You never know when sea algae extract will show its ugly head.
Yep – sea algae. And here’s the other strange thing. Ben had a bad allergic reaction while he was traveling in Greece, probably from sea grass. I knew about the allergic reaction (it is a pretty crazy story) but I never knew what the allergen was. This happened in 1999, mind you, and I never knew that part…until now!
So, even if I HAD read the shampoo label and saw that it had sea algae in it, I probably would have still bought it, because I didn’t know…the rest of the story…how weird!
