My sister Renae asked me the other day if I had any parenting books I recommended. I gave her the names of a few, but really, you can read all the books in the world, but at the end of the day, you just “gotta figure things out” (Imagination Movers).
I say this partially because it makes me feel better for NOT reading as many of the popular parenting books (No… I haven’t read a single sleeping book…such a rebel…), partially because each kid is so unique, the solutions vary just as much, and partially because there isn’t always a book for the things you come across in raising kids.
Here’s a few I would add to my library if I could…
“How to Channel Your Child’s Creative Energy”: This practical handbook would address how to encourage usage of traditional mediums to express themselves instead of rubbing poop all over the walls/bedrails and craft ideas for kids who only want to use the color orange.
“What can I clean, Mommy?”: Inspired by Amelia Bedelia, this book offers creative suggestions for preschoolers who ask what they can clean on a daily basis, like “undusting the furniture” and “drawing the drapes”.
“Acid Reflux Exercise Extravaganza”: For babies with acid reflux, this book details how their caregivers can complete an entire exercise routine while keeping their baby upright for a half an hour after eating 10 times a day.
But even without these amazing titles…I seem to figure it out eventually. But, if anyone has any ideas on how to stop the poop smearing episodes, I’m open for suggestions!
